چکیده
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) provides a rapid non-destructive molecular characterization of organic and inorganic material in geological samples. Combination qualitative semi-quantitative approaches are routinely used FTIR study kerogen coals. A diversity descriptors straightforward tools to characterize type, composition structure. However, only few these applied the chemical investigation Precambrian organic-walled microfossils. Synchrotron radiation-based microspectroscopy (SR-FTIR) permits high spatial resolution investigations matter large range applications biology, geochemistry cosmochemistry, but remains rarely microfossils studies. Here we show that SR-FTIR combined with an integrative approach description is particularly relevant for minute unknown biological origin. The analyses five morphospecies from three different Proterozoic formations northwestern Canada highlight signatures rich aromatic, aliphatic oxygenated moieties. This evidenced by use spectrum descriptions (band assignments positions) calculations parameters using intensities integrated areas absorption bands (CH2/CH3, R3/2, Al/CC, CO/CC, factor, C factor). Altogether, this demonstrates interest when investigating chemistry spectroscopy.

The geological record of protists begins well before the Ediacaran and Cambrian diversification of animals, but the antiquity of that history, its reliability as a chronicle of evolution and the causal inferences that can be drawn from it remain subjects of debate. Well-preserved protists are known from a relatively small number of Proterozoic formations, but taphonomic considerations suggest t...

Compressed organic-walled microfossils attributable to five filamentous taxa, and ten coccoidal eight, (taxa originally spheroidal forms and two originally ellipsoidal, colonial forms), all having long time-ranges in the Proterozoic, have been identified in fine-grained siliciclastic sediments in cores from four bore holes cutting subsurface equivalents of the Mesoproterozoic Conselheiro Mata G...
متن کاملRelease of organic nitrogen compounds from kerogen via catalytic hydropyrolysis
High hydrogen pressure pyrolysis (hydropyrolysis) was performed on samples of solvent extracted Kimmeridge Clay Formation source rock with a maturity equivalent to ca. 0.35% vitrinite re ̄ectance. We describe the types and distributions of organic nitrogen compounds in the pyrolysis products (hydropyrolysates) using GCMS. Compounds identi®ed included alkyl-substituted indoles, carbazoles, benzoc...
متن کاملPaleobiological perspectives on early eukaryotic evolution.
Eukaryotic organisms radiated in Proterozoic oceans with oxygenated surface waters, but, commonly, anoxia at depth. Exceptionally preserved fossils of red algae favor crown group emergence more than 1200 million years ago, but older (up to 1600-1800 million years) microfossils could record stem group eukaryotes. Major eukaryotic diversification ~800 million years ago is documented by the increa...
